Late Mohammed Farooq Ali Sahab, a revered figure in Hyderabad, was a pioneer in boxing and a beloved mentor. An arts graduate and retired Assistant Director of the Bureau of Economic & Statistics Department, he dedicated his life to the development of sports and community welfare.
Mr. Farooq Ali served as an influential leader for the Andhra Pradesh Amateur Boxing Association for 20 years and was a Ring Official at the 2003 Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad. He was also a patron and chairman of the Owaisi Boxing Academy and the Telangana Boxing Association. He was actively involved in various martial arts associations, including Star Karate and Muay Thai.
His influence extended through his many students, including Mr. Samsam Uddin (NZB Boxing Coach), who trained notable international World champion Nikhat Zareen an Indian boxer and two time world champion. (World Junior Women Champion 2012, Silver Medalist 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Championship) and International boxer Mohammed Hussamuddin (Commonwealth Medalist 2019)
Mr. Farooq Ali also played a pivotal role in shaping the career of his son, Saad Farooq, a multiple-time national champion and international boxer who has represented India more than 16 times.
Among his numerous students were Syed Arifuddin Qadri (President of TBCA, Junior National Silver Medalist), Grand Master Mohammed Salauddin Jaweed (Founder/Director of Star Karate Club International), and SH Abid (President of Muay Thai India and All India Kick Boxing Federation). Many of his students now run boxing training centers across Hyderabad
In honor of Mr. Farooq Ali’s contributions, our NGO, Daizel Foundation, is committed to advancing his legacy of sportsmanship, mentorship, and community service. Founded by his grandson, the organization aims to inspire and support the next generation in the fields of Healthcare, Education & Sports. The president of the organization is his son, Mr. Aftab Farooq, who continues to carry forward his father’s legacy.
